I’ve been in the email marketing space for many moons and am not familiar with any well known email marketing services that are *just* for agencies.
I can think of several that started out with an agency focus as it’s a good way to generate revenue when you’re getting started. In fact, I did exactly that with Net-Results (where I’m founder & CEO), a marketing automation platform that competes with Pardot, Marketo, and the like.
In our early days we focused almost exclusively on agency partners. Established agencies bring solid customer relationships to the table. When you’re bootstrapping a company in the marketing technology space an agency focused model makes a ton of sense.
I believe that CampaignMonitor is another example of an email marketing service that started out with a strong agency focus. They’ve since opened the doors to end users.
At Net-Results, we continue to attract new agencies in North America, Europe, Australia/New Zealand and elsewhere. There are often great mutual benefits in those relationships so it just makes sense.
