Happy Friday! We have another round of exciting updates to share this week.
Here are a few of the highlights:
New Custom Field: Drop-Downs
We’re particularly excited to add Drop-Downs to the list of custom field options available. Drop-Down menus offer the benefit of a discoverable list of options (which you define) and guard against common data-entry errors like typos or non-uniform naming conventions.
When you want to avoid unhelpful and unnecessary variation and stay focused on a key list of defined choices, or just ensure that all the options are visible, drop-downs are an excellent way to accomplish this.
Drop Downs are a particularly useful option for working with specifically defined criteria like geographic region.
For example, let’s say you’re working on a number of International Accounts, each with multiple offices spread across the globe. You decide you’d like to keep note of all their key locations, so you create the following custom fields leveraging a Drop Down populated with values corresponding to geographic region. This could be as granular as city or as broad as the part of the world in which their office operates (e.g. APAC).
You create the following custom fields (in this case, at the Account level), leveraging a Drop Down list of values you created for defined geographic regions:

  • Company HQ
  • Satellite Office 1
  • Satellite Office 2
  • Satellite Office 3

Creating and Leveraging Drop Down menus in a Custom Field is a two-part process:

  • First, you’ll want to create the Drop Down menu itself, which is just a specified list of values that you’ve defined under a title you’ve created. You can do this by navigating to top right corner of your screen and selecting Administration > Drop Downs from the menu.
  • Next, you’ll want to create a custom field type of “Drop Down” or “Drop Down Multi-Select” (this option exists for when you want to be able to choose more than one value) at either the Account or Contact Level.
  • Navigate to Accounts & Contacts > Choose Accounts or Contacts > Create Custom Field. The Drop Down menu you’ve created will be available to you to populate either a regular Drop Down or Drop Down Multi-Select Custom Field Type.

Drop Down menus can be mapped to your Salesforce, Dynamics, and SugarCRM applications just as with other custom fields.  It is important to note that this mapping does not sync automatically, so making changes to a Drop Down menu in Net-Results will not automatically make those changes in your CRM.
We’re pretty excited about what this new feature can help our customers accomplish. We’ve put together in-depth documentation to walk you through creating a drop down menu and assigning it to a custom field at the appropriate level here.
New Column Added to Pages Viewed Report
A “Domain” column has been added to the pages viewed report. This is a small change that Marketers working across multiple domains will particularly enjoy. Prior versions of the report noted the name of the page, but not the specific domain to which it was attached. That’s all changed now–for the better!
Bug Fix: Moving Segment Criteria: “Any Campaign” and “Any Form”
When selecting Segment criteria, sometimes you just want to select the broadest possible range. For example, when segmenting based on Campaign activity, you may be looking to qualify contacts who performed an action on “Any Campaign.” We squashed a small bug that occasionally stopped “Any Campaign” and “Any Form” from appearing at the very top of your list of criteria.
Bug Fix: List/Sub Membership Drop Downs in CRM iFrames
We’ve been working steadily to make CRM iFrames even better. During our most recent round of updates a bug snuck in that prevented values from loading in the List/Sub membership drop downs. We’ve squashed it and are continuing to work on further enhancements to improve overall user experience!
